A Proper Holiday Thank You

Doesn't it figure that I finally have time after Christmas to sit down and make a few cards? I didn't send any this year, and it makes me a little sad. I really do love sending and receiving holiday cards. It was satisfying, though, to dig out my supplies and put a few together. Obviously there are several that will have to wait for next year but I can use some of these for thank you cards right away!



I love pink holiday cards--especially with polka dots. How adorable is this little vintage scene? I'm sure "Miss Hall"is hoping for a snow day, too.





 




Hope you had many good wonderful cards in your mailbox from those you love. Let's all try to send more snail mail this year. Happy 2014!

Paris - Day Eight

On our last full day in Paris, we ate breakfast at the hotel and walked to Le Marais quarter. A few weeks before our trip, we had contacted Paris Greeters to be matched with a Paris resident to meet us for a stroll through a neighborhood of their choice. We were assigned Francoise and arranged to meet her at the carousel at Saint-Paul Metro Station. We arrived a little early so we took a few minutes to visit Eglise Saint Paul – Saint Louis, 99 Rue St. Antoine, 75004. It was beautiful. First Day of High School

It was my daughter's first day of high school today. New school. New city. New friends. New clothes. And into all of this new-ness, she carried experiences and characteristics that have been built into her along the way. In her very first Humanities class her teacher introduced the poem, "Where I'm From" by George Ella Lyon. Her assignment was to write her own version of "Where I'm From." Here's her version--drawing upon her life's journey thus far. After reading it, I'm wondering if--like me--you're also interested to see where this girl is going in life. NYC Day One

Time for a summer adventure! We said farewell to Burlington, Vermont's maple syrup and cheddar cheese and hello to the Big Apple. Peace out, Ben & Jerry! We hopped on the subway to Brooklyn, dropped our luggage in Park Slope, and explored DUMBO--the area Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. We sat and watched this beautiful carousel by the water for quite a while. Pretty and relaxing. We love places to eat that offer a lot of options--especially since one of us is vegetarian and the other is not--so Time Out Market New York was perfect. We sat at the counter and ate at Mr. Taka. Lots of delicious choices that made both of us happy. I like riding the subway, and bridges and elevated tracks make it even more interesting. I also really love being able to see out of the windows on the train as we travel in and out of Brooklyn.
