Summer Fun at the Barn House

Image
My sister and I took a mini-road trip to Battleground last weekend to see what the boys at Barn House had in store for their summer gathering. It was a beautiful afternoon and we had a wonderful time sorting through a great assortment of vintage treasures and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful displays. The llamas gave us a warm welcome. (Actually, they played it pretty cool--just gave us a casual glance and said, "Hay." ha) I absolutely loved the gorgeous variety of hydrangea blooms that made star appearances throughout the show. I was tickled to see our "neighbors" from Seabold Vintage Market of Bainbridge Island at the show. I adore their striking red and white (or cream!) theme. Gorgeous! These soy candles smelled divine. As you can see from this picturesque sky...it really was a pretty day! I don't know why, but soda water bottles are so appealing. It was so hot that this one formed condensation...and the effect was just cool! Made me ...

PixyStix to Go!

It's the little things that make life sweet, so I am sharing a super easy idea for you to try for yourself. Our niece is flying in from Arizona and we'll be hitting the road to our family reunion today. With all that travel, I thought she might need a little treat to keep her going! (I know I do.) Neatly line up 8-10 good, old-fashioned PixyStix in a clear bag. Mine is gusseted, but it doesn't need to be for these nice, slim candies. Cut one or two rectangular pieces of fun paper to fold over the top; layer to your heart's content. Today I grabbed a piece of old sheet music and a scrap of patterned paper. Here's the fun part: affix a brad, a flower, a button, a charm, a tiny photo, stamp it, monogram it with letter stickers--whatever! So many possibilities. I'm in a hurry (because I haven't packed yet) so I affixed one of my October Afternoon Cakewalk brads that already had a cute tag attached. I inked the edge a tiny bit, but that's all I had to do! ...

Paint Me Happy!

Even though I love the clean look of white walls, I'm not afraid of pretty-colored paint! I'm bringing a little bit of that fun into my cardmaking today with a series of cards that incorporate Martha Stewart paint chips. "Wading Pool"  "Vintage Map"  "Barn Door Red"  "Flour Sack"  "Scottish Shortbread" Add some color to your papercrafting with paint chips and see how much fun it is!

Sending You Sunshine

Hello, friends and card crafters! In our household, two out of our three birthdays are SUMMER birthdays, so this--along with goodies the adorable October Afternoon "Cakewalk" line--inspired me to make some fun summer-birthday-themed greeting cards this week. Our girl turned 16, so I wanted to make a cute girlie card. The black-and-white flower was made with my Slice. Thanks to my sister for snagging me the pretty white Hambly Studios doily rub-ons. Sadly, you may have heard that Hambly is closing its doors. I will miss your fabulous products, Hambly Studios! The following three cards are a series inspired by Vickie Boutin's book,  Creative Foundations . Who loves Starburst? And who loves them on these cards? Fun! I have really loved this birthday set of Basic Grey chipboard stickers. What a happy little lollipop! Perfect for a joyful kid's card. It's really not a party without an awesome hat. Add a tiny dot of iridescent Stickl...
