Ruffles & Rust

Image
This is the second time I have attended the "Ruffles and Rust" junk fest in Monroe and once again--it did not disappoint. We were too busy searching for fun junk to buy so we didn't take too many photos. Honestly, I didn't have too much to spend this time around but I always just LOVE taking in all the fabulous displays. I really appreciate an artist who can put together an appealing mix of new and old items, color, and elements of nature in a fresh, colorful and whimical display. My sister bought this fun cake pan that she plans to fill with primroses for spring. Good find! I also love the fact that the crazy fur thing made it into the foreground of this picture. None of us would touch it, of course. Fur is definitely in the category of things that shouldn't be at a vintage sale. Also on the list? Birdcages and bedpans--to name just a couple. See you at the next "Ruffles & Rust" sale in October!

More Cards!

I'm still having a blast cranking out the cards this weekend. There's really nothing better than putting on old episodes of "Project Runway" and digging into my stash of papers and embellishments. Sometimes the creativity doesn't "flow" like it should, but no worries...I just...keep...going. The added bonus of making a greeting card is that I can just throw it away and no one will ever know! It's not like I'm painting the Sistene Chapel, for goodness sake. These aren't my best designs, but I still had fun making them--AND I used up some cute scraps, too! Thanks "sew much" for taking time to see my work!

Holiday Weekend = More Time to Create

Image
I'm spending the long weekend with my sister and best friend, and we're having a wonderfully creative time. I'm building up my card stash so I can keep up on all of my upcoming spring correspondence. Spoiler alert! If you have a late-winter or spring birthday, don't take a sneak peek! The rest of you...enjoy!

Calendar 2011...Just in time for February!

Well, you're not kidding that January FLEW by. Just thought I'd better darn well post my 2011 calendar before it's March already. Here's hoping you enjoy every minute of every day of every month!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Happy solstice! This is the day every year that I try to cut myself some slack and allow myself to [mentally] cross things of "the list" that simply aren't going to get done before Christmas. *sigh* One thing I can never compromise on, though, is preparing the house for the holidays. Here's what we've been up to in the Baker household. I think it looks quite festive, if I do say so myself. There's a story behind this Spry can! At the ballet studio, Ashley has gained the nickname "Spry" and my sister found this fabulous vintage vegetable shortening can, filled it with flowers, and sent it backstage to Ashley during the Nutcracker. Love the color and the cute little man on it! The big boot is new this year. I bought it at the Girlfriend's Christmas Gathering at the Olympia Fairgrounds in November from the wonderful gal who owns "The Rabbit Shed." Shi-ny bright! Love these colors of these little vintage balls and the...
